Thanks Vin. This helps. I did a little playing around with Windows Pools.
Question: If I am backing up my primary storage pool to a stand-alone external RAID 1 (NAS), should I bother with redundancy, striping, or parity in the storage pool?

Photoshop workstation: Windows Storage Pools
I'm researching my wife's next photoshop workstation build. Last time I did this I had a RAID card and several disks to give me 6T of storage. Fast forward a bunch of years to today: Her computer is full, we have an external RAID and a backup. There are about 8T of total files and they are growing. ...

Re: WCG Crunching: OPEN Pandemics beta testing GPU
They have been releasing beta work units about once a week. On an Intel system, I get both the Intel (on-board GPU) and Nvidia (card GPU) work units.

No preorders. I still scrape the bottom of the bargain bins. I am excited to hear about its performance when you get it running.

Re: Nvidia Quadro K6000 install
Thanks Vin. A week ago, I ordered that exact plug. Or so I thought. It turns out there is a "Mini 6-Pin" version. When I opened the package, I had a flashback to "Spinal Tap" movie with the mini-Stonehenge. I mistakenly bought the "mini" I just ordered a "Standard" 6-pin. I will let you know how it ...

Re: Nvidia Quadro K6000 install
PSU: Seasonic X-series, 750W (modular). What Ive tried: The black 8-PIN plug is a "VGA" and DOES NOT connect to the PSU. There is a small narrow plastic bridge between two of the pins. The Blue 8-PIN connects to the PSU but does not power up the GPU. When pressing the power button of the computer, ...

Background: With COVID, visits to friends house are limited to the front steps or an open garage. During the latter, I was talking to a friend about my hobby to play with "deep learning" models. I told him my little Haswell CPU takes ages to learn a model. He walks over to a storage box in the gara...

Re: *tap*tap*. Is this back on?
Back during 411overkil 1.0, I lived in Texas. We lived through this huge tropical storm that dropped 46" inches of rain. We were safe and dry, but many of our neighbors were not as fortunate. shortly after, a friend of mine, took a job with Amazon in Seattle and said "we should try to get some ventu...
