My purchase criteria:
1) DDR4 (already had a few sticks)
2) is it in stock
Hence the board above. Not even the Wi-Fi version. No other stock. The shortage is real.

Looks like AMD will release the next gen Threadrippers in November 2021 and will utilize the trx40 socket. This aligns pretty close to the 12th gen Intel release, Alder Lake. I am thinking I am going to hold my Haswell replacement until some more details (and price) are released for these two releas...

My first thought is ethylene glycol compatibility with aluminum and copper. You may consider switching to a more aluminum compatible chemical.
But that doesn't explain your sludge. I'm not sure what is going on.
